Hannah Barclay and Kat Briggs co-founded ‘Barclay Briggs Interior Design’ 6 years ago. With over 20 years’ professional experience each, the studio works on a variety of residential and commercial projects.

Barclay Briggs Interior Design studio is passionate about creating timeless interiors tailored to each client’s unique lifestyle. What was the brief?

'The brief was to create a luxurious, modern, and inviting home with a “wow” factor from the moment you walk in. The client requested a complete refurbishment of her existing home, with new finishes, furniture, and lighting throughout in a warm, sophisticated, and neutral palette.'

Were there any key style features?

'The project was a 5-bedroom large detached 6000 square ft property, with generous grounds, located in rural Surrey.

As a self-built property, the bones of the architecture were still working well. A modern symmetrical layout with millimetre perfect dimensions was a joy to work with, providing straight angles and well-proportioned rooms.'

What made George Smith the right partner for this project?

'The Georgian sofas and armchairs in the sitting room were intrinsic to the overall design. Comfort and quality were key factors when choosing the furniture, alongside a timeless style which would age well.

The Basketweave Linen fabric was chosen before the sofa. George Smith has a great range of fabrics which we are very familiar with and knew would suit this project very well. These were proposed and integrated into the concept design stage before selecting the timeless style sofa.'
