The Process

    1. Inspiration & Concept
    You might have a rough sketch, a photograph, or just a vision in your head. Share it with us, and we’ll begin crafting a detailed brief.

    We’ll talk through your goals, the overall aesthetic, and where will it be located; kitchen, dining room, restaurant, or café?

    2. Proposal & Quote
    Once we have your brief, we’ll present a proposal with detailed specifications, pricing, and lead times. We’ll explain our approach and the craftsmanship involved.

    Transparency is key, this is a collaboration, and we’re here to answer all your questions.
    3. Order & Design
    Once you’re happy, we begin! Our expert team transforms your brief into detailed drawings for your approval. We’ll also do a site access check to ensure everything runs smoothly later down the line.

    For larger orders, we often recommend a prototype. It’s an invaluable chance to test and tweak the design before full production begins.

    4. Production & Delivery
    Once the design is finalised, our master craftspeople in Northumberland begin the build. Each piece is handmade with care, using time-honoured techniques.

    We’ll keep in touch throughout production and send images for your approval before delivery. You’re also welcome to visit the factory again and see the progress in person.

Hotel Ulysses, Baltimore

Stylish bespoke seating was created by George Smith to maximise the capacity and take advantage of curves of the architecture.

The Electric Cinema, London

In 2002 the seating was replaced with 98 bespoke George Smith leather armchairs, some with footstools, and two massive leather sofas at the back of the auditorium.

Cinema Seating

    At George Smith, we’ve collaborated on a wide range of cinema room projects — from intimate family spaces to large-scale private cinemas with seating for 50+ guests. Whether you’re designing a snug home cinema or a luxurious screening room for a members’ club or hotel, we can help you create tailored seating that prioritises comfort and style. Our work at Electric House in London features generously sized square sofas at the front, designed for ultimate relaxation and a truly immersive viewing experience.

Bar Stools

    Over the years we have created a multitude of bespoke bar stools for a variety of high end hospitality venues including The Ivy in London, Le Portetta in the French Alps and the Mondrian Hotel in Berlin.If you have an idea, drawing or photograph of what you want, we can work with our design and development team to create the perfect piece for you of the highest quality.
